Krysta Curtis adds joy to the world through design.

On new year’s day, we released Mosaic Medley to New Zealand and the Philippines.  On the second, we decided to go full speed ahead and we released worldwide!  In the two days since, Mosaic Medley has been downloaded in a total of 60 unique countries!

I’m pulling this data from our analytics provider, Mixpanel.  I was happily surprised to see how detailed the location information is – in most cases I can view the exact city each player is currently playing in.

One of the most useful features is the funnel feature.  It’s super easy to set up – just drag and drop your tracked events in the order the players should be completing them in.  Then, clicking on an event pulls up completion data broken down by country and date range – this is super useful when deciding which countries to target!  The chart below shows completion data of one of our levels in the game split by country.

Another feature that Mixpanel offers is a Live View – it’s basically a ticker that updates every 5 seconds showing what your players are currently doing in the game.  It’s completely addicting!  Since I experience how long it takes for the player to complete tasks in the game and see which tasks the player completes, I find it feels somewhat like play testing in person.  One surprise I’ve noticed on numerous occasions is people playing the first level repeatedly instead of moving on to newer levels.  But what I don’t gleam from the data is the reason why… is that just what they want to do, or do they not realize new levels are available to them?

So far I’m pleased with our choice of Mixpanel as our analytics solution.  Plus, their customer support is amazing – I can expect a response to a question within a few hours.

If you haven’t already, download Mosaic Medley on your iPad and send us your feedback 🙂
